An ideal widget for the MiniDisc enthusiast; I'm not sure about other applications. This was an instant fix for getting digital signals from my Apple iMac to my Minidisc recorders. One or two required depending on whether your supplied cable is Toslink both ends or Toslink one end and 3.5mm the other when you require 3.5mm both ends. A quick fix that saved me buying more optical cables. The adapters are a very tight fit on the Toslink male ends; only experience will tell if they tend to become looser with repeated connection/disconnection - but mine will probably stay put for a long time so I'm not worried. They're cheap enough to buy four or five at a time.
