Does it's job very efficiently - very please with this kit Review by springer5
Price Value Quality The SCART to USB 2 Video Capture Kit allows the capture of both video and audio from cameras/TVs and other video equipment to your PC.
The SCART connector can be removed if you want, leaving standard AV connectors, so there is a choice of how you connect your camera/TV or whatever to the PCs USB port.
On my Toshiba Qosmio running Windows 7 - 64bit the device installed correctly first tiem with no errors. The whole setup process was very simple and full, clear instructions are provided in the box.
There was a secondary item missing from the order when it arrived so I emailed cables-leads.co.uk to tell them and within just a few hours I had a very apologetic reply from a member of their staff and a promise to send the missing item out free of postal charge. They were good to their word and the missing item arrived two days later.
Overall I am very pleased with both the product and the level of service I have received from cables-leads.co.uk and I am happy to thoroughly recommend them both.

An excellent kit! Review by Luigi_03
Price Value Quality The Videocap device is easy to install, and comes with all the software you're likely to need to capture your videos to hard disk or DVD. Did have a couple of problems; I needed to download the latest drivers from Cables & Leads in order to capture sound as well as video, and There was a problem with the Scart plug. Once fixed, no problems.
Video quality is amazing!

Does the job well Review by Sheila
Price Value Quality I rang for advice before purchasing which helped a lot. I wanted this for a learning disabled lady to connect her karaoke machine to her computer. It worked well once I'd sussed it out! The advice given was accurate and the person giving it was helpful. I'd use this firm again.

Service is second to none! Review by David
Price Value Quality I have only got part way to editing using my pc and the Arcsoft software. I haven't had a great deal of time to play with it and I'm not very "techy".
I might have a go with the NCH software.
However, I have made a couple of calls back to "Cables & Leads" at Derby, asking for some assistance.
This came from a person called Paul and I cannot speak highly enough of him.
He is extremely knowledgeable and speaks so clearly that it is impossible not to understand him. He truly is a credit to the company.
David.

Excellent product Review by Puwap
Quality Price Value I bought this item a few weeks ago now. I mainly needed it to back up my videos from my V+ box, before the Tivo arrives. It has worked perfectly. The provided software is quite good as well. I am now going to look into using to archive my old VHS collection, and maybe finally move my DVD's onto an external hard-drive as well. You can also use to record activity on a webcam, or security camera. Software to go with a security camera is readily available on the internet.
I've already recommended it to a couple of friends.

scart to USB 2 video capture kit Review by tam2142
Value Quality Price fantastic product does exactly what it says . Sky told me only way to record any of sky's programs was to buy DVD recorder at £150.00 plus this cost me under £30.00. All recordings fit on pc or USB so no discs lying around but if wanted you can transfer to disk. After sales service is fab and so was the pre sales highly recommend cables and leads and the scart to USB 2 video capture kit is just so handy to have simple to set up and so easy to use

SCART to USB 2 Video Capture Cable Kit Review by Kevin
Price Value Quality Forgot to say its working fine on Windows 7 32 Pro!

A real time saver! Review by Kevin
Price Value Quality Having messed about with various methods of video/audio capture with generally iffy results, this is like a dream come true. The bundled software (and the free NCH prog) didn't work properly for me, but using the kit with Cyberlink Power Director was both easy and very good video/audio quality. I can now transfer all my VCR tapes onto HDD/DVD, and after that use it to offload content from Sky box (but obviously lose any HD due to analog nature of SCART). All in all, absolutely delighted. Service also excellent.

Cheaper option than DVD recorder Review by Roger
Quality Price Value Product came promptly and in good condition, I need it to copy programs off the Sky+ box so I can watch them elsewhere. I have only done a quick test so far using Windows Movie maker software which seemed to work fine, so cannot really rate it.

Excellent piece of kit Review by Dominic
Price Value Quality Once I had sorted out getting WIndows 7 driver download and then changed video setting to PAL from NTSC everything worked way passed expectations. Easy to use with great results.

A really simple product to use Review by Brian
Price Value Quality The Scart to USB 2.0 Video Capture Cable Kit provides one of the easiest means of capturing media content from all of those old VHS tapes that you have stored away. When the correct settings are applied for PAL or NTSC TV live broadcasts, high quality raw video files can be saved to your PC but ensure that you have a spare hard drive with at least a terabyte of size to store the files as these are uncompressed and ready for conversion and editing.

Q: I have just bought a Packard Bell series one two computer, Model No. L17526
I would like to play back my video tapes from the video recorder to the PB computer.
Looking at the reviews above, it would seem possible but could you reassure me please.
Thank you.

Yes you can plaback video content onto your computer using this kit. You can record them as video files if you wish too! Hope this helps...
Question asked by Ken at 17:15 on 29/07/2011 -
Q: If I recorded something from the cable box, when I replay it, would it be in widescreen, or would it be in 4:3 format ?
- A: Adrian,
Hi, it would be in the format you recorded it in. Depending on the software you use, most video capture software will allow you to set either video capture in 4:3 or 16:9. Hope this helps!
Question asked by Adrian Parker at 14:54 on 15/06/2011 -
Q: I have recorded some video movies on 2GB SD cards. i have an SD card toUSB adaptor.
Can I use your SCART to USB adaptor to play the movies on myTV set.
Regards
Bill Fry- A: Bill,
No, you cannot use this device to play videos on your TV. You will need to connect your computer or laptop to your TV and then your SD to USB adapter to the computer as you do already. We offer a range of cable kits that allow you to connect your computer to your TV here: http://www.cables-leads.co.uk/pctv - thanks!
Question asked by Bill Fry at 14:19 on 13/06/2011 -
Q: I purchased a similar item from another company, the video quality was quite bad.
Is their any samples of the produced video from this device?- A: Brian,
Hi, good question! None available at present, but we will see if we can arrange for a sample to be put up on this page over the next week! We just need to find a suitable home video! Thanks.

Q: I use a microscope with a camera adjusted on it.The camera ends-up on a usb cable ehich gives me rhe chance to connect it to a laptop and see the microscope smears on it.However,I want to see the microscope smears on a crt screen, which provides only scart input. Can I use this product to coonect the microscope camera with my crt tv screen?
- A: Hi,
No you cannot connect directly with this cable kit, sorry. However, your laptop should have a 15 pin VGA output? You can then connect this socket to your CRT screen with our VGA to Video TV Converter... search code: 104150 thanks!
Question asked by CHRISTOS at 19:34 on 15/02/2011 -
Q: Hi. i download films to my usb pen so would this cable let me put my memory stick in it and watch via through the usb to scart as my tv as no usb port
- A: Hi,
Afraid not. This cable kit does not work that way round. The USB part has to go into a computer or laptop to grab video FROM a video source, like a DVD player or VCR etc... Thanks
Question asked by darren at 17:23 on 25/01/2011 -
Q: What format does the supplied software capture in?
Im really interested in it, but I want to make sure that it doesnt take up oodles of space on the laptop...
And also, how easy is it to then burn the movies off onto DVD for a portable DVD to read?
I've got a V+ box, and want to get the movies off onto the laptop, and then eventually off onto DVD for the kid to watch movies in the car.
Thanks
L- A: Hi,
It records the video content into traditional video formats like .avi, .wmv, .flv, .asf .mpg, .3gp, .mp4, .mov etc... It all depends on the software you use. The free software covers these (NCH Software) that we mention at the bottom of this page too. To burn the video back onto DVD, you just use DVD / CD creation software? We could recommend Nero or simular. Thanks!
Question asked by Laura at 18:56 on 24/01/2011 -
Q: Will the scart to usb cable able me to watch dvd movies from my laptop on my tv
- A: Hi,
No this kit does not work that way round. Only works from SCART to USB, ie Video to Computer. You should consider one of our Laptop to TV kits? See http://www.cables-leads.co.uk/pctv (copy n paste this URL) for details. Thanks!
Question asked by del at 13:47 on 15/01/2011 -
Q: hi
i use my lap top to watch tv on my LG monitor, however when im out and want to record say sport or a tv programme i can't, i know its old school but if i used this cable and pluged it in to the vhs whould it record what is playing on screen on to tape?- A: Hi,
This only works one way. That is from SCART (like your VHS player) to USB (Laptop/PC). So no, it would not work as you hoped! Sorry!
Question asked by J at 15:48 on 24/12/2010 -
Q: No problem that it's not HD but are there various recording quality modes eg XP/SP/LP? Or does it depending on the software used to record from the USB? Thanks!
- A: Hi,
Exactly that! It depends on the software and the recording resolutions and formats you decide upon. SP / LP tends to refer to tape driven devices to be honest. Thanks
