VGA to HDMI Cable - How to Convert!

As a VGA signal is an analogue Video Signal and a HDMI Signal is digital, you cannot connect 1 simple cable between the 2 devices you want to connect together. Sorry, but you can't! So, if your computer or laptop only has a VGA out and your display only has a HDMI input, what can you do? Firstly, please do not fall into the trap many have buy buying an actual VGA to HDMI cable from say Amazon or Ebay for a few pounds, they will not work on 98% of most equipment. The signal cannot be converted from Analogue to Digital in a cable alone.

We are going to let you in to a little secret! Our USB to HDMI Adapters upgrade your computer or laptop to HDMI, via a spare USB port on your computer. This leaves your VGA port alone, so you can continue to connect your normal monitor if you wish. The Windows environment will recognise our USB to HDMI adapter as a 2nd monitor. You can then drag n drop your Microsoft Windows applications between your 2 displays. Or set your desktop properties to just clone the desktops over 2 screens, the choice is yours.

There you have it, a USB to HDMI connection is possible, but a VGA to HDMI Cable, really isn't. A simple work around and great for those wanting to view PC content, like YouTube, LoveFilm, Netflix or BBC iPlayer on a bigger screen with a HDMI input.

For those that really need to use their 15 pin VGA socket, then we do have a VGA to HDMI converter unit. This box will upscale your VGA signal to digital HDMI and also blend the audio with the HDMI too. It is just another way you can get a VGA port upgraded to HDMI.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch, if in doubt or if you need any further assistance! One of our specialists, will be on hand to help get you and your equipment connected!
