Further information about HDMI Cables
HDMI or High Definition Multimedia Interface Cable’s are used for connecting HD devices to high definition Televisions.
The common devices a HDMI cable may be used for include, SKY HD boxes, Virgin HD boxes, high definition games consoles, Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Players, and now some even use a HDMI Cable to connect their computers and laptops to their TV screens.
A SKY HD Box connected to your display via a HDMI Cable will only display a HD picture if the program you are watching is transmitted in High Definition.
Because it sends sound signals as well as video signals, a HDMI cable would be a better option than a DVI Cable.
A HDMI Cable is capable of delivering 7.1 digital surround sound.
The current standard for HDMI 1.3 although HDMI 1.4 is due to be released imminently, with higher data transfer speeds.
Because a HDMI Cable sends a digital signal, the signal is either on or off. Therefore the quality of the signal sent by the HDMI cable will not differ between cheaper and more expensive HDMI Cables, however a more expensive HDMI Cable such as the Monster 1000Hdex would deliver the signal much quicker than that of a standard cable.

A HDMI Cable can send a signal up to 25m. If you wish to transmit HDMI over 25 metres you will need a HDMI Over Ethernet Extender.
